Discord Invite Checker
Check a Discord invite to see public server details without joining the server.
Works with discord.gg/code, discord.com/invite/code or just the code. We only read Discord's public invite data.
Your server preview will appear here
Paste an invite link above to retrieve its public name, icon, approximate member counts, boosts, and expiration details.
What Is a Discord Invite Checker?
A Discord invite checker lets you inspect a Discord invite link and read the public information attached to it. Instead of opening an invite and joining straight away, you can see the server name, icon, ID, approximate member counts and other available details first.
It is useful for checking whether an invite still works, identifying the server behind a link, and reviewing what Discord shows publicly before you decide whether to join.
How to Check a Discord Invite
- Copy the Discord invite link you want to check.
- Paste it into the checker. You can also enter just the invite code.
- Press Check invite to request the public invite data.
- Review the server preview, approximate counts, channel and expiration when they are available.
You do not need to join the server. If an invite cannot be checked, make sure the link is complete and has not been deleted. A temporary Discord or network problem can also stop a result from loading, and the checker tells you when that is the case.
What Information Can You Get From a Discord Invite?
- Server name, icon and description. Identify the server behind the invite. Animated icons are shown when the server has one.
- Server ID and creation date. The unique Discord ID, plus the date the server was created, which is calculated from the ID.
- Approximate members and online. Estimates from Discord. They are not exact totals and are not a member list.
- Destination channel. The channel the invite points to, when Discord provides it.
- Verification level. The server's verification requirement, from None to Very high.
- Boost level and boost count. Shown when Discord includes them.
- Invite expiration. The time the invite is scheduled to stop working. An invite with no expiration has no scheduled end, but it can still stop working if it is deleted, revoked or reaches its use limit.
Not every field is available for every invite. The checker shows "Unavailable" for a missing value so it is never confused with a real zero.
How to Tell If a Discord Invite Is Expired or Invalid
An invite can stop working because it expired, was deleted or revoked, reached its use limit, or was typed incorrectly. The checker asks Discord whether the invite can currently be resolved. However, not every failure means the invite is bad, so each outcome is labelled separately.
| Result | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Valid invite | Discord returned a public preview for the code. | Review the details before deciding to join. |
| Invalid or expired | Discord answered "not found" (HTTP 404): the code is wrong, expired, deleted or revoked. | Check for typos, or ask the server for a fresh link. |
| Rate limited | Discord asked this page to slow down (HTTP 429). It says nothing about the invite. | Wait a few seconds and check again. |
| Discord had a problem | Discord returned a server error (HTTP 5xx). It says nothing about the invite. | Try again later. |
| Could not reach Discord | The request never arrived, for example offline, or blocked by a firewall or browser extension. | Check your connection and any blockers, then retry. |
| No server preview | Discord recognised the code, but it is not a standard server invite, so there is no server to show. | Open the invite in Discord if you trust the sender. |
If the invite really has expired or been revoked, ask the server's owner or an administrator for a new link.
Can You Check a Discord Server Without Joining?
Yes. A public invite can show information about its server without you joining it. Depending on the response, that includes the name, icon, ID, approximate member counts and destination channel.
An invite preview is not a full inspection. It does not give access to private channels, a member list, messages or every server setting. Anything beyond the preview needs the right permissions or authorized API access.
Is It Safe to Open a Discord Invite?
Checking an invite helps you see where a link leads before you join, but a valid invite does not mean the server or its members are trustworthy.
- Be careful with servers you do not recognise, especially ones that reached you through unsolicited direct messages.
- Never share your Discord password, login codes or authentication token with a server, bot or website.
- Be wary of servers that ask you to authorize an unfamiliar app or scan a QR code to "verify".
- Do not download or run files sent by people you do not know.
This checker retrieves invite information. It is not a security audit of a Discord server.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I check if a Discord invite is valid?
Paste the invite link or code into the checker and press Check invite. The tool asks Discord for the public invite data and shows the server preview if Discord recognises the invite. If Discord says the invite does not exist, it is invalid, expired or has been deleted.
Can I check a Discord invite without joining the server?
Yes. The checker only reads the public invite preview. It does not join the server, and you do not need to log in or give the tool any account details.
Can I check an expired Discord invite?
You can submit it, but Discord normally rejects an expired or revoked invite, so the checker reports it as invalid or expired instead of showing server details. A temporary Discord or network problem is reported differently, because those errors do not prove the invite is dead.
What does the expiration date mean?
If Discord returns an expiration time, the invite is scheduled to stop working at that moment. If there is no expiration, the invite has no scheduled end, but it can still stop working if it is deleted, if its use limit is reached or if the server revokes it.
Can I see how many members a Discord server has?
A valid invite preview can include an approximate member count and an approximate online count. Both are estimates that change from moment to moment, and the checker shows "Unavailable" when Discord does not return them instead of showing 0.
Can I find a Discord server ID from an invite link?
Yes. When Discord returns the server for an invite, the checker shows its ID next to the name, with a button to copy it. You can use that ID in other Discord tools, such as the Snowflake Decoder.
How is the server creation date worked out?
Every Discord ID has the time it was created built into it. The checker decodes the server ID locally in your browser to show when the server was created. It reflects when the server was made, not when the invite was made.
Can I see a Discord server’s icon before joining?
Yes. If the server has an icon, the checker shows it, including animated icons, and falls back to a letter placeholder when the server has no icon or the image cannot be loaded.
Does the Discord Invite Checker require a bot token?
No. The checker uses Discord’s public invite lookup, which needs no bot token and no login. Other server information, such as member lists or channels you cannot see, needs authorized API access and is not available through an invite.
Does a valid Discord invite mean the server is safe?
No. A valid invite only means Discord can resolve the invitation at the time of the check. It does not guarantee that the server is legitimate, safe or free from scams, so only join communities you trust.
Why does the checker show "Unavailable" for some fields?
Discord does not return every field for every invite. When a field is missing, the checker shows "Unavailable" instead of guessing or showing zero, so you can tell a missing value from a real 0.
Why do I see a rate limit or "could not reach Discord" message?
These are temporary problems, not a verdict on the invite. A rate limit means too many requests were sent in a short time, so wait a few seconds. A connection error can come from being offline or from a firewall or browser extension blocking requests to discord.com.
Which invite formats are supported?
You can paste a bare invite code, discord.gg/code, discord.com/invite/code or discordapp.com/invite/code, with or without https:// or www. Query strings, trailing slashes and angle brackets are ignored. Custom vanity codes work too. Other domains and link shorteners are not supported.
Can I see the member list or who created an invite?
No. The checker only shows the preview Discord makes public with an invite. It does not show a member list, private channels, messages or who created the invite.
Is the Discord Invite Checker free?
Yes. It is free, needs no login, and you can check as many invites as you like. The lookup is sent from your browser straight to Discord, the same way it is when you open an invite.
